Too Close for Comfort

I was lying down in the snow with my lens poking through the fenced compound of the Seal River Heritage Lodge on the coast of Hudson Bay in northern Manitoba. The guide warned me that "they can move very fast and you better be ready to get out of the way if it comes at you". I showed him the back of my camera. Full frame image of a wild polar bear photographed with a 24-105mm lens. He smiled and didn't say anything more. He knew I had to keep shooting. It's why I was there. This image was printed at 60X40 inches on canvas for the June 2011 show. Wonderful to see this bear almost life size!
